Follow these procedures for greatest efficacy and to avoid teat contamination:
|
| 1) Thoroughly wash and dry teats. |
| 2) Dipping teats with an effective and approved germicidal product is recommended. Wipe each teat with an individual disposable towel after 30 seconds. |
| 3) Disinfect each teat end according to the instructions under instruction 4.
Always prepare farther away teats first to avoid contaminating previously cleaned teats. |
| 4) Wearing clean, disposable gloves, use an alcohol pad or cotton swab soaked in alcohol to thoroughly clean the teat end. Use a separate alcohol pad or cotton swab for each teat. |
| 5) Quarters should be infused
near side first, far side last. This reduces risk of contaminating teats that have not yet been infused. |
| 6) Care should be taken to keep all tubes clean; it is best to keep the set of 4 tubes in the sealed bag until use. At cold temperatures the bag containing Cinnutube may be placed in warm water; keeping the top of the bag out of the water is recommended. |
| 7) Insert only the Cinnatube™ tip into the teat end. “Pinch off” the teat at the udder attachment between the thumb and forefinger and slowly infuse all of the tube contents. Use only one tube per quarter. |
| 8) Do not massage the teats. Cinnatube™ is a teat sealant and must be in the teat canal to be effective. |
| 9) Dip teats in an effective, approved germicidal product or teat dip after treatment. |
Follow these procedures to remove Cinnatube™ at freshening: |
| 1) Strip all of the Cinnatube™ at freshening by wrapping the thumb and forefinger around the teat by the udder attachment and working the hand down the full length of the teat. |
| 2) Strip 10 times per quarter for four days following freshening to strip all Cinnatube™ from each quarter. |
| 3) Milk into a bucket for at least 3 days to ensure that no Cinnatube™ goes into the bulk tank and to separate colostrum from commercial milk supply. |
